Transgender

Transgender people are those whose sex does not match their gender identity --that is, their physical body and the way they perceive themselves are not the same. People who are transgender don't follow traditional gender roles and expectations. This term can describe many different kinds of people:

*those who have a female body but identify as a man

*those who have a male body but identify as a woman

*those who do not follow the "gender binary," which is the idea that there are only two genders: women and men. They believe instead in a "gender spectrum," which says that a person can be a man, a woman, both, or neither
