Sex vs. Gender

Sex describes what biological characteristics you were born with--males have penises and testicles, while females have vulvas and uteruses. Biological sex is determined by many factors including chromosomes and anatomy. Sometimes, a person's biological sex is neither male nor female; this condition is called intersex. Gender describes the way you think about yourself and how you identify--are you a woman or a man? Your sex is something physical, but your gender is how you think/feel about yourself.
