Homophobia

"Homophobia" literally means an irrational fear towards homosexuals, but is often used to describe fear, anger, and hate directed at anyone who is not heterosexual, or "straight." Homophobia can range from physical violence, like beating up someone who "looks like they might be gay," to hate speech, like using threatening words like "faggot."
